Mini (Nikki Reed) is a manipulative, highly sexualized teenager with parents who fail to offer much structure or guidance. Her stepfather (Alec Baldwin) is rich and dim, and her mother (Carrie-Anne Moss) leads a hard-partying lifestyle. As the relationship between Mini and her stepfather grows more twisted, criminal activity occurs. Luke Wilson appears as a detective investigating the situation, and Jeff Goldblum plays their wealthy neighbor.

This show follows troubled Kris Furillo who is given the opportunity to start a new life. Local horse trainer Pablo gets her a jobat the Ritter's ranch. Kris has to learn to deal with fitting in while the Ritters are facing challenges of their own. Henry Ritter and his daughter Jean are trying to save the ranch from financial ruin. Kris and Wildfire have to help the ranch triumph over the horse racing circuit.
- Jean Ritter is Matt and Todd's mother; the owner of Raintree Farm, and Kris Furillo's mentor. She previously co-operated Raintree with her father, Henry, but after his death Henry's share of the farm was passed down to Matt.
